About Us
The museum is located in a former sail loft and is part of the Nottage Maritime Institute which aims to improve the nautical sailing and navigation skills. There is a collection of paintings, personal possessions, photographs and models all with local connections to the River Colne and its fishing, yachting and boat-building heritage.
Admission Costs
Admission is free but donations are always welcome.

The Nottage Museum is now CLOSED until Spring 2009.
Accessibility
The main part of museum is upstairs, there is a stairlift, but some disabled visitors might find accessibilty difficult.
How to Find Us
Sunday train services operate to Wivenhoe from Colchester, Clacton and Walton-on-the Naze.
There are bus services, numbers 61, 62, 74 or 78 from Colchester to Wivenhoe. Alight at the Railway Station (No. 61) or at the Co-op near the top of the High Street (Nos 62, 74 and 78).
Visitors by car are advised to park at the town car park off the High Street which is free or if it is full at the railway station where £1 is charged on Sunday.
From the High Street, walk down-hill to the River, at the Quay turn left. From the station walk up to the end of West Street, turn right and at the Quay turn left.
