About Us
The collection covers all aspects of Mersea life including fishing, oystering, seaside, social history and wartime with particular emphasis being developed on maritime heritage.

Opening Hours
The Museum is open during the summer season commencing at the beginning of May and finishing at the end of September.
Opening hours are 2pm to 5pm, Weekends and weekdays Wednesday to Friday inclusive. The museum is also open on Bank Holiday Mondays.

There is a well-stocked shop. Audio Guides are available. An different audio-visual display is run each year, covering Mersea or surrounding area.

Accessibility
The museum is on one floor. There is a concrete ramp up to the entrance, there is an accessible toilet and adjacent car park.
How to Find Us
Mersea Island is on the Essex coast, about 9 miles South of Colchester on the B1025. The museum is in West Mersea - follow the main road through the village to the High Street and down as far as the parish church. Turn left in front of the church to reach the entrance gates of the museum.
