About Us
The museum explores the history of Ipswich and the maritime collections include fossilised marine organisms, material from the original excavations of the Sutton Hoo ship burial, a large natural history collection including marine life and navigation equipment.
There is a wide coverage of maritime themes with the emphasis on boatbuilding, exploration, migration and emigration and the part that maritime industries played in the regional economic and social history.
Ipswich is easily accessible by train, bus or car. The museum is located in the centre of Ipswich, 5 minutes walk from the bus station and car parking, 25 minutes walk from the train station.
