MISS ELIZABETH WILBERFORCE
Called up and joined HMS Ganges 31st October 1939 in charge of WRNS office. June 1940 trained as probationary 2nd Officer.
Later in 1940 appointed 3rd Officer in charge of WRNS at HMS Beehive to start up the unit.
In October 1940 after promotion to 2nd Officer She was appointed back to HMS Ganges and served there until beginning of 1942 then transferred to HMS Beaver at Grimsby.
Miss Wilberforce lived in Felixstowe until her death in 2003.
At her request her full uniform, photographs and scrapbook collected during her navy days were donated to the museum.
