This is not a "Tank Landing Craft" but a "Landing Ship - Tank" or LST. The Landing Craft was a much smaller vessel.

Tamk Landing Craft
I agree with Bryan Davis, this is a US built LST Mk 2. A large number of these were supplied to the Royal Navy under Lend-Lease.
