Sea Chest Becket
This handle or becket is in the form of a simple grommet that has been parcel with fine cloth wormed [ the grooves of the rope been filled with fine line ] Turks heads hold the leather chaffing piece in place . It is felt that this form of becket is the earlier form . The chest appears to be mid 19th century but could well be earlier
