HMS Arab

HMS Arab

Launched 1936, built by Smith's Dock at Southbank-on-Tees, owned by Hellyer Bros. of Hull.

Requisitioned September 1939 and converted for Anti Submarine duties. Joined the 16th A/S Strike Force at Aberdeen for operations around the North of Scotland.

In April and May 1940 Arab, under the command of Lt. Richard B. Stannard, was still part of the 16th A/S Strike Forcewhen it took part in the Norwegian Campain.

In 1941 was based at Londonderry for Atlantic Convoy duties. Severely damaged in May 1945 by her own depth charges during an attack on a U-boat off The Minches. After repair was returned to owners in November 1945.
