Norfolk and Suffolk type lifeboat built by James Beeching.
Model of a Norfolk and Suffolk type lifeboat. The original lifeboat was built by Yarmouth boatbuilder James Beeching. It rests on bilge props at port and starboard and the additional circular prop seen at the stern represents a turntable, which would have been used in the middle of the boat. The rollers at the bow and stern were used to launch the lifeboat from the beach. White oars were stowed on the port side and blue oars on the starboard side. One oar is longer than the others and could be used to steer if the rudder were lost.
