MMS 84
Great to see the model. MMS84 was part of the 132nd flotilla that was assigned to the American Taskforce to sweep the Omaha and Utah beeches early morning of the D-Day landings - first ships in. My grandad was the CPO and the CO was a Lt W Kyle. Have some great photos of the crew onboard (some taken just by the life rings and on the bridge). Sad story being that they never lost any crew during D-Day, but on their return back to the UK, around Christmas 1944, two of the crew drowned. The ship was moored quite far out in harbour and two of the crew drowned when their small rowing boat capsized as they made their way ashore. Would be great to know of any connections to this boat.
