Line carrying rocket
Pains-Wessex self-contained line carrying rocket with instruction card
This rocket is a ‘dummy’ for display purposes only and was never used for an actual rescue. It is designed to be used to throw a line from land to a vessel in distress at sea. The Pain company was founded in the 1850s by James Pain, a fireworks manufacturer and in addition to line-throwing equipment also made distress flares.
