Shot down Zeppelin
WORLD WAR I: CAMEL v ZEPPELIN
At 3.45 am on June 17, 1917, Lt. S D Culley flying a Sopwith Camel of the Royal Flying Corps shot down a Zeppelin believed to have been on a mission to bomb Felixstowe. The pictures on this page show two picture postcards from the time, and a brooch believed to have been made from a piece of metal salvaged from the wreckage.
