Bow Pudding of restored lifeboat
Volunteer Bill Banks of Thorpe-le-Soken made the new rope bow pudding (or fender) for the restored James Stevens No.14 lifeboat at Titchmarsh Marina at Walton-on-the-Naze. Bill worked under the tuition of Des Pawson of the Museum of Knots and Sailors Ropework at Ipswich. The bow pudding is about two metre long and is tapered towards both ends. This picture shows the pudding being trial fitted.
