Attempted rescue of the James and Eleanor

Attempted rescue of the James and Eleanor, Ernie Childs

Ernie Childs' dynamic painting shows the attempted rescue of the brig James and Eleanor by the Alfred Corry lifeboat during a January gale in 1895. The vessel was reduced to matchwood in the space of two hours by the force of the waves and three of her seven crew were drowned.
